ABSTRACT: The present work seeks the simplicity of the dwelling, reflects about the melancholy of memory and gives itself to the thought of making architecture. Deals with the past and seeks to write the future. “Navigates to a distant place and lost in time”. This place is São Tomé and Principe. It reflects his past in the fragmentation of a colonial heritage and it is with this inheritance that São Tomé and Principe lives daily, in which the memory is the reality and the present. The future is uncertain. Speaking of São Tomé and Principe implies finding meaning in the word roça and understand its importance in the identity and culture of this tropical territory. What once worked as an effective model of land use occupation and planning, currently, these structures present vulnerable conditions in its building as well as in its infrastructure. The forest that once further the enrichment of those who explored it, today, surrounds poor communities, forgotten in time. Uba Budo lies dormant inside this forest. Seeking to wake up Uba Budo, this work is an opportunity in the idealization of a new vision of the different scales of dwelling, without forgetting the history and memory according to the principles of tropical architecture. It seeks to generate new urban models and new ways of living, while considering the spirit of the place and local constructive culture. It seeks to value the natural reserve, where it hides some unique species in the world. This work seeks Dwell Uba Budo.

O presente trabalho procura a simplicidade do habitar, reflete sobre a melancolia da memória e entrega-se ao pensamento de fazer arquitetura. Lida com opassado e procura escrever um futuro. “Navega até um lugar distante e perdido no tempo”. Este lugar é São Tomé e Príncipe que reflete o seu passado na fragmentação de uma herança colonial e é com esta herança que convive diariamente, em que a memória é a realidade e o presente. O futuro é incerto. Falar em São Tomé e Príncipe é encontrar o significado da palavra roça e compreender a sua importância na identidade e cultura deste território tropical. O que uma vez funcionou como um eficaz modelo de penetração e ocupação do território, atualmente, estas estruturas apresentam vulneráveis condições, quer seja no edificado como na infraestrutura urbana. A floresta que outrora favoreceu a riqueza de quem a explorava, hoje, envolve uma comunidade carenciada e esquecida no tempo. Uba Budo encontra-se adormecida no interior desta floresta. Na procura de acordar Uba Budo, este trabalho constitui uma oportunidade na idealização de uma nova visão das diferentes escalas do habitar, sem esquecer a história e a memória segundo os princípios da arquitetura tropical. Procura gerar novos modelos urbanos e novas formas de habitar, sem deixar de considerar o espírito do lugar e a cultura construtiva local. Procura valorizar a reserva natural, onde esconde algumas espécies únicas no mundo. O trabalho procura Habitar Uba Budo.
