Lugares de abandono

Da obsolescência arquitetónica ao turismo identitário
Authors: Maia, Marta Lagoutina;
Abstract

ABSTRACT: The following master’s project starts from two major themes: the Abandoned and the Tourism. First of all, it is intended to create a critical reflection on the abandonment of large and old houses of architectural relevance, and on why this abandonment exists in the first place. It is assumed that the major problem lies in architectural obsolescence; that is, the loss of meaning in functions over the time and throughout societies. Secondly, a reflection on the possible solutions to combat these cases, assuming that one of the most appropriate today is the application of tourism, specifically in the case of the present work, the wine tourism. The goal is to find a solid and coherent strategy that should be able to be applied in several case studies, so that it can save this type of buildings, restoring, once again, the majesty they once owned. And so, moving from the architectural obsolescence of the place, to the identity tourism that best rests in its memory.
