O presente relatório foi desenvolvido no âmbito do estágio curricular enquadrado no Mestrado de Exercício e Saúde da Faculdade de Motricidade Humana com vista à obtenção do grau de mestre. O estágio curricular teve a duração de um ano letivo e incidiu na intervenção no Programa Livre de Educação e Exercício na Osteoartrose (PLE²NO), integração no Instituto Português de Reumatologia (IPR), entre outras atividades de estágio. O estágio apresentou como objetivos a aquisição de conhecimento teórico relativo às doenças reumáticas, o desenvolvimento de competências na prescrição de exercício físico, avaliação da aptidão física, liderança e condução de sessões de exercício físico. O PLE²NO trata-se de um programa comunitário com duração de seis meses, destinado a indivíduos com idade superior a 50 anos e com osteoartrose (OA) do joelho diagnosticada. Visa auxiliar o participante a gerir a OA através da prática de exercício físico e autogestão da patologia. Apresenta como propósito o desenvolvimento de capacidades que permitam gerir a OA de uma forma autónoma e a prática de exercício sem supervisão profissional. O programa PLENO foi eficaz na melhoria da velocidade de marcha e da força dos músculos da mão e do antebraço dos participantes, na vertente presencial e domiciliária, respetivamente.
This report was developed within the scope of the curricular internship framed in the Master of Exercise and Health of the Faculty of Human Motricity in order to obtain the master's degree. The curricular internship lasted one school year and focused on intervention in the Free Program for Education and Exercise in Osteoarthritis (PLE²NO), integration in the Portuguese Institute of Rheumatology (IPR), among other internship activities. The internship had as objectives the acquisition of theoretical knowledge related to rheumatic diseases, the development of competences in the prescription of physical exercise, evaluation of physical fitness, leadership and conduction of physical exercise sessions. PLE²NO is a six-month community program for individuals over 50 years old with diagnosed knee osteoarthritis (OA). It aims to help the participant to manage the OA through the practice of physical exercise and self-management of the pathology. Its purpose is to develop capabilities that enable OA to be managed autonomously and to exercise without professional supervision. The PLENO program was effective in improving the gait speed and strength of the hand and forearm muscles of the participants, in person and at home regime, respectively.
