Abstract

O estágio curricular, enquadra-se no Mestrado em Exercício e Saúde da Faculdade de Motricidade humana e realizado no Ginásio Mega Craque Clube entre o período de setembro de 2016 e junho de 2017, possibilitou colocar em prática vários tópicos abordados ao longo da licenciatura em Ciências do Desporto, bem como outros temas abordados no Mestrado que despertaram particular interesse. A realização deste estágio permitiu desenvolver capacidades de utilização de instrumentos teóricos e metodológicos adequados à abordagem de problemas concretos, mas também aumentar o grau de maturidade, preparação e de relacionamento para o desempenho profissional futuro, permitiu ainda construção da identidade profissional enquanto fisiologista do exercício, bem como na área do exercício e saúde. A curiosidade em desenvolver o tema Sarcopenia surgiu à medida que fui experienciando um maior contacto com a população mais idosa que frequenta o clube. A deterioração funcional e estrutural ocorre na maioria dos sistemas fisiológicos com o avançar da idade, sendo a população idosa, geralmente, menos ativa do que a população jovem, torna-se importante e necessário contextualizar e adaptar a esta realidade, dando um acompanhamento mais adequado de forma a prevenir ou retardar o seu declínio natural. Enquanto fisiologista, este estágio permitiu uma maior aproximação com a realidade, num contexto de ginásio. Relativamente ao impacto na área do exercício e saúde, o mesmo teve influência na aquisição de conceitos e procedimentos a adotar ao iniciarmos a prática profissional. Permitiu-me ainda ter uma visão mais ampla das possibilidades e das várias vertentes a nível profissional.

The curricular internship is part of the Masters Degree in Health and Exercise, Human Motricity University and it took place at the Mega Craque Gym Club, between September 2016 and June 2017. This internship allowed to implement several subjects covered throughout the academic degree in Sport Sciences, as well as other issues addressed in the Masters Degree with particular interest and relevance. Implementing this internship allowed me to develop the capacity to use theoretical and methodological instruments adequate to specific problems, but also to increase maturity, preparation and social interaction, essential skills for future professional performance. This experience also allowed me to develop a professional identity as exercise physiologist, also in health and exercise. The interest in developing the topic Sarcopenia occurred when working in close contact with older population that attend the club. Functional and structural deterioration occurs in most physiological systems as age evolves. Being older population generally less active than younger population, it is important and necessary to adjust to that reality, providing a suitable supervision that prevents and delays natural decay. As a physiologist, this internship allowed a closer look at reality, in a gym setting. Regarding the impact in the area of exercise and health, it also influenced the acquisition of concepts and procedures to adopt when initiating professional practice. It also allowed me to have a broader view of possibilities and professional aspects.
