Desfazendo barreiras

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Lisboa, capital of Portugal, distinguishes itself as a peculiar city with its own ambience that does not match any other city, however this city needs constantly adjustments and changes at urban planning taking into account a whole range of events and possible events, such as the growth of tourism, climate change, economic development, re-qualification of riverside, among others. Santos-o-Velho, Cais Sodré and Bairro Alto are located on a privileged area due to the proximity to the Tejo river and by the characteristic buildings of the old Lisboa, that dignifies her and offers character. However, we can also observe the presence of the railway, on Avenida 24 de Julho and Avenida Brasília, which divide these areas, making pedestrian accessibility difficult and consequently doesn’t allow people to approach the riverside and Tejo river. In this context, the Final Project that follows, is developed in two moments, the first one at a territorial scale where the three distinct areas (Santos, Bairro Alto and Cais Sodré) are studied, and the second at a urban scale where are developed three pedestrian bridges, joined together by pedestrian routes and that spread in to equipment. The main objective is to unmake the existing barriers in order to add these areas promoting greater connection of the territory, increasing the possibility of discovery the city that Lisboa is, approaching the population to the riverside.
