Diálogo entre estruturas

Abstract

ABSTRACT: In the context of the rehabilitation of buildings and palaces in Lisbon, it stands out the importance of the reflection about the future occupation and function of the Palace of Rose. This building is situated in Lisbon, in the middle of the west slope of the castle hill, and its preexistence dates back to the XVIII century. Nowadays the palace is the result of an overlap of several ages and constructions, being also a product of successive additions and modifications, which converge in a building with a complex structure. The complex comprises the Palace of Rose and the São Lourenço church, and its classified as Property of Public Interest. In this context, it is important to bring this architectural memory into the present, and simultaneously, regenerate the place in order to revitalize this territory of the city. The main approach is the rehabilitation of the church and the palace. These buildings are composed by different areas such as the noble hall, the patio, the monumental staircase, gardens, and spaces that connect the building with the city throughout systems of sightsee and architectonic details with patrimonial importance. After some insights and research about these important building and the place where it stands, we aim to establish a connection between both and the rest of the city. We propose to approximate the city and this piece of work, through the recovery and adaptation of its interior to the new functions. Three programs converge into a unitary model with diverse purposes for the castle hill. This unit grounds in combination of the rehabilitation of the old with the creation of the new, generating a true dialogue between structures.
