Eco-arquitetura

Casas modulares sustentáveis em Portugal
Authors: Rodrigues, Ana Viegas Dias;

Eco-arquitetura

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Considering the global environmental situation, natural resources scarcity and the impact that the construction sector has on the planet, this dissertation has as it’s main objective, the exploration of some options of sustainable modular wood construction existing in Portugal, with the purpose of developing a small illustrated manual with strategies for this type of construction, in a clear and succinct way, so that this topic can be easily approached and understood. Nowadays Eco Architecture is an issue that is arousing interest worldwide in all its aspects and solutions. However, in Portugal, although it is gradually becoming more and more well-known, it is still a subject of ignorance to most of the population and it lacks study and teaching by the faculties of architecture in the country. Modular construction and sustainability are two themes that, when combined, allow a drastic reduction of the environmental impacts that the construction sector currently has on planet Earth. The use of wood in its composition, which is the most sustainable building material available due to its natural renewability and its inherent "eco-friendly "characteristics, makes it an economical, fast and sustainable solution. This study intends to demonstrate the possibilities that this type of construction offers, highlighting the sustainable and ecological characteristics. Therefore, an individual and comparative analysis of three national sustainable modular construction companies is carried out, in order to understand the strategies applied in this type of construction at national level and which are the most viable solutions; culminating in an illustrated manual divided into 3 sections: Strategies for sustainable construction; Choice of Modular System and Practical example of a modular building in Portugal.
