Rentabilidade do olival regado no Alentejo

Abstract

Este trabalho tem com o objetivo avaliar a rentabilidade do olival regado no Alentejo. Para tal, foram realizadas duas contas de cultura, uma para o sistema de produção intensivo, e outra para o sistema superintensivo, e ainda uma análise SWOT. O olival alentejano representa 40% da área nacional de olival (INE, 2011) e produz 70% da produção nacional de azeite (INE,2016). Também é a região do país onde o investimento em olival mais cresceu nas últimas décadas, em especial no perímetro de rega da barragem de Alqueva. As duas contas de cultura realizadas, mostram que ambos os sistemas têm rentabilidades semelhantes, apesar do sistema superintensivo ter custos superiores. Para áreas de grandes dimensões, o sistema superintensivo é considerado mais adequado devido à mecanização quase integral do itinerário técnico, tendo assim menor necessidade de mão-de-obra, para uma mesma área. A análise SWOT mostrou que existem diversos fatores positivos que comprovam que o olival regado é uma boa oportunidade para o regadio alentejano. Sendo importante realçar: o consumo mundial crescente nos últimos 20 anos e a modernidade dos novos olivais alentejanos, como fatores positivos, e o facto do azeite português não ser considerado um produto diferenciado como facto negativo
