Ao longo do tempo, a importância da Gestão de Recursos Humanos no seio das organizações tem vindo a crescer. No entanto, com a evolução da tecnologia, a prática de monitorização de colaboradores tem levantado algumas questões a nível da confidencialidade da informação e da protecção de dados, o que remete para um conceito bastante presente na nossa actualidade: a engenharia social. O objectivo deste trabalho consiste em relacionar o processo de monitorização dos colaboradores com o conceito de engenharia social, focando as questões éticas que poderão surgir na monitorização e nos temas da privacidade e da confiança no relacionamento entre empregador e colaborador, relativamente a esta prática da Gestão de Recursos Humanos. Para a concretização dos objectivos foi realizado um estudo com 12 participantes, directores e gestores de Recursos Humanos de diferentes empresas e diversas áreas, aos quais foram aplicadas entrevistas semiestruturadas posteriormente analisadas através da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados demonstraram ser possível uma relação entre monitorização de colaboradores e engenharia social, nomeadamente em termos de manipulação na tecnologia e em conformidade com o objectivo comum de ambos: o acesso a informação.
Over time, the importance of Human Resource Management within organizations has been growing. However, with the evolution of technology, the practice of employee monitoring has raised some issues in the information confidentiality and data protection, which refers to a concept that is very present nowadays: the social engineering. The aim of this work is to relate the process of employee monitoring to the concept of social engineering, focusing on the ethical issues that may arise in the monitoring process and on the privacy and trust issues in the relationship between employer and employee, regarding this practice of Human Resource Management. To achieve the goals proposed, a study was carried out with 12 participants, Human Resource directors and managers from different companies and in several areas, to which were applied semi-structured interviews that were later analysed through the content analysis technique. The results showed a possible relationship between employee monitoring and social engineering, in particular in terms of technology manipulation and according with their common goal: the access to information.
