Authors: Marques, Sara de Albuquerque;

Flexibilidade em contexto

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Marvila presents itself as a fragmented territory, a result of the accumulating of urban phenomena of different times, which co-exist in a simply circumstantial situation. It is searched to establish relationships, connect facts for a urban coherence that’s physically walkable, dealing with the past patrimony in the perspective of a future Lisbon. Understanding the present necessities and projecting them in the future is the base of the intended urban intervention, looking at the city as a living organism, evolutionary, that transforms itself so that is doesn’t become obsolete. Such transformations are reflected in the different scales of dwelling, from the need to manage flows at the urban scale, which motivated the project for a tram station, to the reality of the domestic realm, that has been questioned facing the changes in the family structure and in the generational relationships, for which were developed typologies of collective housing. Flexibility, although, doesn’t offer any clue about the context it is being applied to, and consequentially it is explored the concept of the living wall as a both technological and representative solution, considering its legacy in the portuguese arquitecture enunciated by Kubler.
