Abstract

Due to all the environmental problems we have faxed, originated by the incorrect actions of mankind, it was felt the need to act and search for strategies that can help the environment to survive and be protected. One way found to do that was the offer of green products by companies and consumed of those same products. The objective of this dissertation, is in a way, to identify which are the motivations and barriers to the consume of green products in the food sector by the diverse number of consumers. The data was achieved by an online survey that was shared over Facebook and e-mail. The results shown that exists four different segments of consumers. In first place the "environmentalists", which their main motivation to the consume of green products it's the moral obligation and the main barrier is the lack of information about the characteristics of the products. In second place the "carefree people", which they refer as the main motivation is the fact that the products are healthy and the main barrier the price. The "pseudo-environmentalists" are not motivated particularly, as well as they don't show preference for any barrier. For last, looking in the "friend, but only a few times" segment, we can see all the variables that are motivational factors for the consume of these products and the highlight barrier is the price.
