Arquitetura, saúde e bem-estar

Abstract

The present work explores healing architecture, reflects on how architectural spaces affect mental health, and intends to re-evaluate the way in which health-related buildings are designed. This work investigates the physical and sensory influence of architectural environments on the daily lives of those who suffer from mental illnesses, and of those who care for and live with these patients. Thus, a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center, located in Tróia, is designed offering healing spaces, consultations, specialized activities, occupational therapies, and qualified public spaces. This Project, inserted in a community and surrounded by nature, explores how elements of space, such as light, color, sound and materials affect the perception of the environment in a positive or negative manner. The Rehabilitation Center aims to promote awareness regarding the importance of an architecture that prioritizes user needs and is supported by evidence. Additionally, it seeks to demonstrate how architecture can create positive spatial sensations and experiences that have a significant impact on health and well-being.
