Authors: Perdigão, Alana Ferreira;

Habitar um espaço colaborativo

Abstract

There is a growing dynamic of devastating real estate competitiveness that is being established in urban centers in the context of Portugal due to the presence of temporary visitors, especially digital nomads, with purchasing power generally superior to that of locals. As a result of this inability to respond financially, there is a migratory movement of a forced nature towards the (increasingly) peripheral areas, highlighting a socioeconomic problem that crosses the country. In a diametrically opposed aspect to the overcrowding of urban centers, Portugal faces severe challenges related to the abandonment of land in the interior of the country and the lack of human capital to overcome the imminent desertification of most of its territory. This work aims to suggest a way to alleviate tensions in both contexts by devising a route for digital nomads to disperse across the countryside. Knowing that a decisive factor for choosing a place to “land” temporarily is the possibility of being part of a community, exchanging experiences and having fine conditions to work, it is necessary, in addition to housing, a co-working space as a central element that attracts and unites them. In order to align the progressive and modern ideals of the digital nomadic community with the public interests of boosting the interior in a sustainable way, customizable, expandable and sustainable buildings are designed, through modules, that adapt to any terrain.
