Desemprego e inatividade juvenil

Abstract

Um dos impactos estruturais mais profundos resultantes da crise económica atual é o desemprego, em geral, e o juvenil, em particular. As dificuldades de inserção dos jovens no mercado de trabalho são de tal forma significativas, em especial a partir de 2008, que poderemos estar a assistir a uma alteração do perfil-tipo dos desempregados de longa duração que, nos anos 80 do século XX, apontava para desempregados mais idosos e pouco escolarizados. No presente capítulo pretendemos identificar, nas trajetórias profissionais dos jovens, os períodos de desemprego e a sua duração, bem como caraterizar as redes de suporte com que podem contar nas situações em que se encontram privados de trabalho. A análise das trajetórias de inserção profissional destes jovens permite perceber que o desemprego é um fenómeno massivo e cumulativo nas experiências laborais dos jovens. Num contexto de crise dos sistemas de proteção social percebe-se o papel insubstituível das solidariedades familiares no apoio às situações de desemprego. A analise tipológica permite ainda perceber que a condição dos jovens desempregados é diferenciada em função da idade, género e percursos escolares e formativos.
