Gestão de empresas familiares

Gestão de empresas familiares

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This work focuses on Family Firms, having had as it principal objective, analysis and subsequent comparison of a set of characteristics, and certain rules practiced by this enterprises, respecting the context in which they operate, more specifically in the Azores. In the first instance it was necessary to select a number of study cases, in this case a group of companies that would fit in the theme, existing the worry that these companies had certain size and expression in the sector in which they operate, as in the Region. It is important to note some crucial issues, where emphasize such as the participation / property that families have in firms/groups, the management and decision making, and the often problematic succession. The study was conducted according to the qualitative research method (or interpretative), where the data collection was done through interviews with the founders or current responsible for the entities chosen, having them agreed to cooperate with the execution of this work. The fact of being present of firms/groups with different sizes, in different sectors and even with different birth/creation dates, tried to include companies in distinct phases, which means different generations. Using the data obtained it was possible to verify the importance that is given to the professionalization of the Firms/Groups, instead the Family interests where there is a growing concern with the occupation of the positions by competent members. If it's done via the family environment it would be ideal for the firm. The results suggest an increasing importance of planning, and of a well-designed strategy program with regard to the succession, where the existence of Family Protocol, starts to take a leading role.
