Abstract

«Versos como estes de amor, de guerra e de moralidade foram, ao que tudo indica, escritos na ilha de Java, em malaio e num extinto crioulo de base portuguesa. Chegaram até nós preservados num manuscrito com cerca de três séculos, que aqui é publicado pela primeira vez e na íntegra. O manuscrito que pertenceu a Leite de Vasconcelos, foi recentemente encontrado no seu espólio do Museu Nacional de Arqueologia, em Lisboa.» In contracapa. Esta edição bilingue (português e inglês) proporciona a primeira leitura integral deste documento histórico, acompanhada de análise filológica, linguística, literária e histórica. Editado com o apoio do Museu Nacional de Arqueologia e do Centro de Linguística da Universidade de Lisboa. As pesquisas desenvolvidas por Ivo Castro e por Hugo C. Cardoso para a produção deste livro integram-se no plano de atividades do Centro de Linguística da Universidade de Lisboa (projeto UIDB/00214/2020, FCT). A pesquisa de Alan Baxter foi financiada pela Fundação Macau através do projeto FHM - MF/2018/35 (Oral traditions of East/ Southeast Asian Creole Portuguese communities).
