Abstract

O presente trabalho procura sintetizar a participação portuguesa nas missões militares em três teatros de operações distintos, tendo todas elas uma tipologia diferenciada. Uma vez que se trata de um artigo sobre operações militares e como a grande maioria dos leitores não estará familiarizada com questões doutrinárias sobre o tema, decidimos iniciá-lo com uma breve caracterização do actual ambiente estratégico para, numa segunda secção, enunciarmos algumas medidas da resposta possível a dar aos conflitos de cariz subversivo que se desenvolvem nesse ambiente. Numa terceira secção, descrevemos os princípios de actuação da Organização do Tratado Atlântico Norte (NATO) face à nova conflitualidade. Nas três secções seguintes, efectuamos uma breve descrição dos teatros de operações no Iraque, Afeganistão e do Líbano e da actuação das Forças Armadas Portuguesas nos mesmos.
