Sorriso gengival : características, etiologia e abordagens terapêuticas

Abstract

O sorriso gengival (SG) é definido pela exposição excessiva de gengiva ao sorrir e afeta negativamente a estética facial e confiança dos indivíduos. No que diz respeito às suas características, devem ser examinados a posição e forma dos lábios, a proporção dente-gengiva, e outros aspetos relevantes para compreender a sua natureza. As possíveis etiologias que contribuem para o SG devem ser exploradas e devem ser examinadas, abrangendo fatores anatómicos, genéticos e musculares. No âmbito dos tratamentos para corrigir o SG, são várias as abordagens possíveis, tanto cirúrgicas quanto não cirúrgicas, incluindo procedimentos periodontais, ortodônticos, uso de toxina botulínica (BoNT) e ácido hialurónico (AH), adaptando assim os tratamentos às necessidades individuais de cada paciente. Um diagnóstico preciso e a colaboração entre os profissionais de saúde são essenciais para alcançar resultados satisfatórios na correção do SG, reconhecendo a diversidade de abordagens disponíveis e a necessidade de personalização em cada caso.
