Atualização sobre laminite em equinos- revisão bibliográfica

Abstract

Na medicina de equídeos, a laminite é a segunda causa mais frequente de mortalidade, ultrapassada apenas por patologias associadas a episódios de cólica, assumindo assim importância na perspetiva clínica e ética. Esta patologia é unanimemente classificada como uma pododermatite asséptica, observada frequentemente na sequência de processos envolvendo endocrinopatias, endotoxinas e/ ou distúrbios gastrointestinais, que afeta principalmente as lâminas do aspeto dorsal do dígito. O dano avascular nestas estruturas e, portanto, à conexão entre a falange distal e a parede do casco pode levar, em última instância à rotação e afundamento da falange distal dentro da cápsula do casco. Atualmente, verifica-se a inexistência de consenso no que diz respeito a etiologia, fisiopatologia, ou mesmo no tratamento desta mesma condição, sendo um dos temas mais controversos da Medicina Veterinária. Assim, esta revisão bibliográfica procura atualizar o conhecimento em relação à laminite, nas diferentes perspetivas da patologia.
