Análise do microbioma subgengival na periodontite

Abstract

A periodontite é uma consequência de respostas imunitárias destrutivas do hospedeiro a espécies bacterianas patogénicas resultantes da disbiose da microbiota oral. Sendo uma das infeções bacterianas mais comuns no ser humano, existe um interesse contínuo em avaliar a composição e montagem da microbiota subgengival associada à saúde e à doença. Os microrganismos que formam a placa bacteriana são a principal causa da periodontite. A sua identificação e a compreensão das relações complexas e interações que envolvem estes microrganismos, os fatores ambientais e o estado de saúde do hospedeiro permitem um melhor diagnóstico e o respetivo tratamento direcionado em doentes com periodontite. Para este fim, as técnicas de diagnóstico molecular são cada vez mais utilizadas. O desenvolvimento e a prevalência de tecnologias moleculares independentes de cultura têm proporcionado um progresso revolucionário nos estudos microbianos. A informação sobre a composição e os processos de montagem da microbiota oral podem ser utilizadas para desenvolver estratégias eficazes e protocolos de monitorização para o tratamento periodontal. O objetivo desta dissertação consiste na caracterização e análise do microbioma subgengival na periodontite através de técnicas de diagnóstico molecular. A metodologia utilizada teve como base a pesquisa de artigos científicos em plataformas digitais como: PubMed, B-on, publicados em inglês e dos últimos 10 anos.
