As cores do luto

Abstract

Esta dissertação aborda o tema do uso das cores no luto em diferentes culturas, enquadrando a cor como componente simbólica que ilustra as emoções no contexto sociocultural em que se encontra inserida. A questão de base da nossa pesquisa “Qual a importância do conhecimento das cores de luto para o trabalho do designer?” levou-nos à investigação do conceito de luto. Incluímos uma breve visão geral da sua origem e história e analisámos o simbolismo das cores no luto em diferentes culturas, uma vez que o luto envolve valores sociais, culturais e religiosos que atuam como condicionantes comportamentais. Nesta investigação, procurámos elaborar uma ferramenta que auxilie os designers no desenvolvimento do seu trabalho, sistematizando informações sobre o luto por cores, permitindo que recomendem cores específicas para diferentes culturas e contextos. Desta forma, foram discutidas implicações teóricas e práticas, contribuindo para o campo da psicologia das cores, design e cultura visual com o auxílio dos métodos de pesquisa documental e estudos de caso.
