Abstract

O processo de fundição consiste num conjunto de etapas necessárias para moldar certos materiais ou ligas. Na primeira etapa recorre-se à fusão do material, seguindo-se o seu escoamento ou vazamento para moldes adequados e posterior solidificação. A Metalurgia tornou-se um dos sectores mais importantes da economia mundial por isso urgia aperfeiçoar métodos de fundição e surgiram técnicas mais modernas e eficazes. Hoje em dia, recorre-se cada vez mais á Prototipagem Rápida. Esta técnica consiste na possibilidade de fabricar em série peças complexas a partir de um desenho em computador. A principal função de se produzirem protótipos é a de auxiliarem na análise, na funcionalidade e no efeito estético do produto projectado. Para além disto, a prototipagem rápida é um processo fácil, de baixo custo e rápido.
