Abstract

O presente texto situa-se na paisagem abrangente, complexa e diversificada dos cuidados de saúde e será orientada por uma perspectiva antropológica. O objetivo principal deste artigo é propor alguns subsídios que possam concorrer para a competência cultural dos profissionais de saúde, principalmente dos enfermeiros, nas suas relações de proximidade com as pessoas com as quais interagem em situações de prestação de cuidados de saúde. * O presente artigo tem como ponto de partida a comunicação realizada nas Jornadas do Programa do Doutoramento em Enfermagem − “COMPLEXIDADE DA SAÚDE HUMANA: Respostas da Investigação em Enfermagem”, organizadas pela Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Lisboa − Universidade de Lisboa, nos dias 19 e 20 de Maio de 2011, concretamente na Mesa: “Sofrimento e Espiritualidade nos cuidados de Saúde”. Agradeço à Professora Doutora Elizabeth Challinor as apreciações que fez sobre o texto.
