Portugal e a influência estratégica do Magrebe

Abstract

Pretende-se avaliar, através de um bosquejo histórico e de uma análise sucinta do quadro geopolítico Magrebino, o seu valor estralégico potencial, os possíveis riscos e tipos de contlitualidade entre os países da margem sul do Mediterrâneo e seus possíveis refleexos nos países da margem norte. Pretende-se, ainda, pôr em evidência a necessidade de uma subdivisão em regiões estratégicas, atendendo não só à complexidade dos problemas existentes nessas regiões como também, face à multiplicidade de organizações Internacionais e regionais de segurança que tendem ali a exercer a sua influência. Por último, mencionam-se as posições de Portugal no âmbito multilateral no quadro da segurança e defesa colectiva, assim como no âmbito bilateral com os demais países com interesses na região, e os acordos já celebrados com o Reino de Marrocos e a República da Tunísia.
