Importância da imagiologia na odontopediatria

Abstract

A descoberta dos raios X por Willhelm Conrad Röentgen em 1895 foi um marco fundamental e responsável pela evolução dos métodos de diagnóstico, em especial na área da saúde. Nos últimos anos, verificou-se uma grande evolução nos meios complementares de diagnóstico imagiológico em Medicina Dentária. Atualmente, este importante instrumento de diagnóstico tornou-se essencial no tratamento das crianças. A precaução em qualquer atividade sujeita à radiação é muito importante, visto as mesmas não serem visíveis por nós, seres humanos. Quaisquer que sejam os níveis da radiação envolvida no radiodiagnóstico, existe sempre o risco do desenvolvimento de alterações biológicas. Este trabalho tem como objetivo a avaliação da evolução dos meios complementares imagiológicos de diagnóstico em Medicina Dentária, mais propriamente na Odontopediatria. Pretende-se pesquisar, abordar e adequar esta evolução para a prática clínica diária do Odontopediatra, resumindo a revolução tecnológica que permite um tratamento rápido, fiável e de qualidade dos nossos doentes.
