A Autonomização no Acolhimento Residencial: Um estudo qualitativo com jovens portuguesas

Abstract

As instituições de acolhimento são o último recurso do sistema de promoção e proteção de crianças e jovens em perigo. No entanto, é ainda o mais utilizado. A necessidade de trabalhar com crianças e jovens em acolhimento, desde a sua entrada, é fundamental para que adquiram competências para uma vida autónoma. O objetivo da presente dissertação é conhecer as perspetivas de um grupo de jovens em acolhimento residencial sobre o seu processo de autonomia, dando ênfase aos desafios que enfrentaram e como conseguiram ultrapassá-los. Numa abordagem qualitativa foram efetuadas entrevistas semiestruturadas a dez jovens do sexo feminino, que estão ou já estiveram acolhidas em casas de acolhimento residencial em Portugal, com uma média de idades de 19.8 (X =19.8; SD = 1.66).
