Abstract

A população mundial tem envelhecido cada vez mais o que traz preocupações relativamente ao desenvolvimento, principalmente cognitivo, da população mais velha. Estudos têm vindo a demonstrar que a saúde cognitiva dos idosos é uma importante preocupação de saúde pública e, assim sendo, é necessário criar estratégias para evitar o declínio cognitivo nos mesmos. Por outro lado, também é possível perceber que existe uma forte relação entre sintomatologia depressiva e sintomas cognitivos, percebendo-se que a existência de sintomas depressivos pode ter alguma influência no aparecimento de défices cognitivos. Além disso, verifica-se que intervenções efetivas para reduzir ou atrasar o declínio cognitivo são essenciais para a população mais velha. O treino cognitivo digital tem grande potencial para um envolvimento sustentado, pois poderá ser usado para a realização de tarefas diárias e por ser uma tarefa exigente.
