Complexidade dos mercados financeiros - impacto social do resgate financeiro português

Abstract

There is no memory, since April 25, 1974, of such severe economic and financial crisis in Portugal. Before the subprime crisis in the USA in 2007, the Portuguese economy appeared to be sustainable. However, a crisis that appeared not to be Portuguese, caused a huge panic in financial markets, rapidly infected the European financial system. Unexpectedly, Portuguese citizens became to know that the Portuguese public debt was unsustainable, and there was only one way forward, to avoid financial and economic collapse. Require an external financial rescue to Troika. In this way, the present thesis will focus on the causal relation in contagion of the financial markets with the crisis in Portugal, and analyze the social impact of the austerity measures implemented between 2011 and 2014, originated by the financial rescue. This subject is related to all Portuguese population and due to it´s dimention , the present study and the realized questionnaire, will not allow to reach an exact conclusion, but will help to understand better this thematic, in order to have future corrections.
