Determinação do fator de proteção solar de extratos vegetais

Abstract

O uso de protetores solares é considerado crucial, uma vez que a exposição solar desprotegida está associada a cerca de 80-90% dos casos de cancro de pele. Assim, os protetores solares têm como função proteger a pele da radiação ultravioleta A (UVA) e/ou ultravioleta B (UVB) podendo ser quantificados quanto à sua capacidade fotoprotetora, através da determinação do seu Fator de Proteção Solar (FPS)[1,2]. Quanto maior for o FPS do protetor solar, maior será a fotoproteção conferida pelo mesmo. As plantas podem possuir atividade fotoprotetora devido ao seu potencial antioxidante[3]. Aferir o FPS e a capacidade de absorção de radiação ultravioleta (UV) de extratos, aquosos e metanólicos, de cinco plantas (Cirsium vulgare, Lythrumsalicaria, Taraxacumhispanicum, Moringaoleifera e Euphorbia paralias )e uma alga(Undariapinnatifida). Foram preparadas soluções a partir de extratos vegetais liofilizados e de um protetor solar comercial e foram determinados o FPS e a capacidade de absorção UV de cada amostra por espetrofotometria[4-7]. O FPS de cada extrato foi calculado de acordo com a fórmula estabelecida por Mansur et al (1986)[4]. O extrato metanólico de E.paralias foi o extrato que apresentou o valor mais elevado de FPS (6,00 ± 0,14). Os extratos aquosos de U.pinnatifida apresentaram os valores de FPS mais baixos (0,31 ± 0,03 e 0,08 ± 0,02). Os extratos que apresentaram melhores resultados quanto àcapacidade de absorção UV foram os extratos de L.salicaria e o extrato metanólico de E.paralias. O extrato metanólico de E.paralias e os extratos de L.salicaria L. foram aqueles que obtiveram melhores resultados quanto ao FPS e para a capacidade de absorção UV, podendo assim ser alvos de estudos mais detalhados quanto ao seu potencial enquanto fotoprotetor.
