Abstract

A crescente digitalização do setor do retalho tem impulsionado a adoção de tecnologias inovadoras para otimizar operações e melhorar a experiência do cliente. Supermercados e mercearias enfrentam desafios significativos, como tempos de espera elevados, gestão ineficiente de inventário e custos operacionais elevados. Em resposta a estas questões, a automação tem sido uma das principais abordagens para modernizar estes estabelecimentos. Esta dissertação apresenta o desenvolvimento de um sistema de automação para supermercados baseado na integração de dispensadores automáticos e tapetes rolantes. O objetivo é permitir que os clientes realizem as suas compras de forma rápida e eficiente, sem necessidade de interação direta com operadores. O sistema proposto utiliza um conjunto de tecnologias, incluindo sensores, atuadores e um módulo de interface para facilitar a interação com o utilizador. Para validar a eficácia da solução, foi desenvolvido um protótipo funcional, no qual foram analisados aspetos como tempo de processamento, precisão na entrega dos produtos e usabilidade do sistema. Os resultados obtidos demonstram o potencial da automação na otimização da experiência de compra e na redução de custos operacionais para os retalhistas.

The increasing digitalization of the retail sector has driven the adoption of innovative technologies to optimize operations and enhance the customer experience. Supermarkets and convenience stores face significant challenges, such as long waiting times, inefficient inventory management, and high operational costs. In response to these issues, automation has emerged as a key approach to modernizing these establishments. This dissertation presents the development of an automation system for supermarkets based on the integration of automatic dispensers and conveyor belts. The goal is to enable customers to complete their purchases quickly and efficiently without the need for direct interaction with staff. The proposed system incorporates a combination of technologies, including sensors, actuators, and a user interface module to facilitate interaction. To validate the effectiveness of the solution, a functional prototype was developed, analyzing aspects such as processing time, product delivery accuracy, and system usability. The results demonstrate the potential of automation in optimizing the shopping experience and reducing operational costs for retailers.
