Burnout nas chefias intermédias na hotelaria

Abstract

O burnout, uma síndrome resultante do stress laboral crónico, tem vindo a tornar-se cada vez mais frequente, sobretudo em setores de elevada procura como a hotelaria. As chefias intermédias, responsáveis pelo equilíbrio entre as exigências operacionais e a liderança de equipas, são particularmente vulneráveis a esta condição. Esta dissertação centra-se na avaliação dos níveis e dimensões do burnout entre as chefias intermédias da indústria hoteleira. Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, onde a informação recolhida foi feita através de um inquérito. A amostra deste estudo é de 120 chefias intermédias e os dados recolhidos foram analisados com recurso ao software SPSS versão 28. Os resultados indicam a prevalência de queixas psicológicas, com 50,8% dos inquiridos a sentirem-se frequentemente stressados e 30,8% a sofrerem de ansiedade e ataques de pânico. Os sintomas psicossomáticos, como as dores de cabeça e a palpitação, também são comuns, com 45,8% a referir dores de cabeça frequentes. A variabilidade dos sintomas de distanciamento mental entre os inquiridos sublinha a natureza diversa das experiências de burnout, realçando que a saúde mental é percecionada de forma diferente pelos indivíduos. Os resultados sublinham a prevalência significativa de burnout entre as chefias intermédias no setor da hotelaria, com níveis elevados de exaustão, distanciamento mental e sintomas psicológicos particularmente proeminentes. Estes resultados realçam a necessidade urgente de intervenções específicas para mitigar o burnout e promover o bem-estar mental neste sector.
