A Terapia Ocupacional nos Cuidados Continuados

Abstract

O objetivo deste estudo é descrever os utentes admitidos na UMDR de Murça e perceber, dentro destes, quais é que são referenciados para a Terapia Ocupacional, tendo em conta as características sociodemográficas, o diagnóstico e a capacidade funcional nas AVD e AVDI. Trata-se de um estudo observacional descritivo e foram utilizadas as escalas de Barthel e de Lawton e Brody para recolher os dados relativos à capacidade funcional. A amostra apresenta 580 indivíduos, 302 do sexo feminino (52,1%), com uma média de idades de 73,93±11,88 anos e 49 % apresenta como diagnóstico doença cerebrovascular. Conclui-se que toda a amostra apresenta dependência na capacidade funcional, mas que apenas 42,9% dos utentes foram referenciados para a Terapia Ocupacional. Os utentes do sexo masculino e os indivíduos com o diagnóstico de doenças cerebrovasculares ou traumatismo-cranioencefálico apresentavam maior probabilidade de ser referenciados para a TO. Os indivíduos com doença osteoarticular e indivíduos com melhor desempenho na atividade do vestir apresentavam maior probabilidade de não serem referenciados para a valência. A intervenção do terapeuta ocupacional é fundamental quando a capacidade funcional dos utentes está afetada. São necessários mais estudos para promoção e divulgação dos contributos da TO na RNCCI.
