Abstract

Actualmente, o abuso do álcool tem alcançado proporções massivas, tanto em países desenvolvidos como nos países em desenvolvimento, e está associado a uma série de consequências adversas, das quais o alcoolismo é apenas uma pequena parte, ainda que seja a de maior relevância do ponto de vista clínico. O problema do alcoolismo transformou-se sem dúvida, num dos fenómenos sociais mais generalizados das últimas décadas. Não há dúvida que “sans alcool, pas d’alcoolismo” (LEGRDIN cit in MELLO et al, 1988, p. 16), sendo portanto o tóxico “etanol” o agente da doença alcoólica. Todavia não podemos ignorar que existem factores individuais relacionados com o meio, que condicionam o consumo excessivo de álcool, levando ou não, à dependência, ao fim de algum tempo. Surge assim uma tríade Agente/Indivíduo/Meio que está na origem de todo este fenómeno de alcoolismo. CORREIA (2002) afirma que as bebidas destiladas ganham cada vez mais adeptos na camada jovem. Para compreender e reflectir acerca desta problemática, encontramo-nos motivados a partilhar algumas preocupações e tentar ser agentes de mudanças de comportamentos dos nossos jovens.
