Antihistamínicos em Dermatologia

Abstract

Os antihistamínicos constituem um grupo farmacológico extensamente utilizado, habitualmente incluído no capítulo da terapêutica antialérgica. O papel da histamina na fisiopatologia das reacções alérgicas e a eficácia dos antihistamínicos na terapêutica das mesmas dão suporte a essa classificação. Em Dermatologia a principal indicação terapêutica é a urticária crónica idiopática, sendo também frequentemente utilizados em outras patologias que cursam com prurido, embora com resultados muito variáveis. O desenvolvimento de fármacos com melhor perfil de segurança levou à distinção de duas classes de antihistamínicos, sendo a 2ª geração caracterizada pelo seu menor potencial tóxico. Os fármacos englobados em cada uma destas classes são vários e os estudos de eficácia multiplicam-se. Neste trabalho procurar-se-á sistematizar algumas das características farmacológicas fundamentais de fármacos frequentemente utilizados, suas aplicações terapêuticas e o que há de novo na terapêutica antihistamínica.
