Abstract

O cavalo de Puro-Sangue Lusitano representa a principal raça equídea autóctone de Portugal, e tem um efectivo registado de aproximadamente 4 mil fêmeas reprodutoras. A partir da base de dados do Registo Nacional de Equinos da Fundação Alter Real compilou-se um ficheiro de genealogias com 50603 indivíduos, nascidos entre 1824 e 2007. Até 2007, o número de animais inscritos no Livro de Adultos (Reprodutores) da raça, era de 15 496 (4195 machos e 11301 fêmeas). O intervalo de gerações estimado foi de 10,4 anos (machos 11,2 e fêmeas 9,6 anos) sendo o número médio de gerações conhecidas de 10,1. O grau de preenchimento de genealogias na raça é muito completo, com cerca de 100% de preenchimento em pais, avós e bisavós dos animais actualmente existentes. Estimou-se o coeficiente médio de consanguinidade para a população em 9,91% para animais nascidos em 2006, sendo consanguíneos 98,4% dos animais nascidos. O DF/ano foi de 0,20% e o tamanho efectivo da população de 24,45 para os animais nascidos a partir de 1995 até 2006. Tem-se verificado um aumento da taxa de consanguinidade e redução no tamanho efectivo da população ao longo do tempo, com aumento nos últimos anos da frequência de indivíduos nas classes de consanguinidade mais elevada.
