With the outburst of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, Radio was quickly forced to react, in order to adapt its content production processes and broadcasting to reach a public thereafter with new routines, daily schedules and listening habits. The present study analyses the new solutions offered by Radio Renascença and its primetime morning show As três da manhã, throughout the first year of the pandemic context, to understand the main transformations of the channel during the period of social distance. The study draws on specialized scientific literature on the social and emotional role played by radio during times of crisis, on a set of original semi-structured interviews carried out with several of Renascença´s professionals, and on a content analysis of all the new formats offered by the broadcaster, to conclude how the COVID-19 pandemic boosted production creativity and radio technological capacity.
Face à eclosão da pandemia em 2020, a rádio viu-se rapidamente obrigada a reagir, adaptando os seus processos de produção de conteúdos e as suas transmissões a um auditório transformado por novas rotinas, horários diários e hábitos de escuta. O presente estudo analisa as soluções encontradas pela Rádio Renascença e pelo seu programa As três da manhã ao longo do primeiro ano de COVID-19, tendo por objetivo compreender as principais mudanças e ajustes do canal durante o período de distanciamento social. O estudo baseia-se na literatura científica especializada sobre o papel social e afetivo que a rádio sempre desempenhou em momentos de crise, num conjunto de entrevistas realizadas a vários profissionais da Renascença e ainda numa análise dos novos formatos e conteúdos oferecidos pela estação, concluindo-se que a pandemia impulsionou a criatividade produtiva e a capacidade tecnológica do meio sonoro.
