Ameaças à equidade no acesso a medicamentos

Abstract

Este artigo aborda as questões económicas e o contexto da ética aplicada à distribuição de medicamentos aos doentes crónicos. Para tal, com base no conteúdo dos direitos da pessoa doente, analisa um caso de ameaça à equidade na distribuição dos medicamentos, de forma gratuita aos doentes crónicos, diferindo de acordo com o modelo de gestão hospitalar implementado, facto que descrimina gravemente os cidadãos. Verificamos que, no caso descrito, predominam os critérios de eficiência que contrariam as prioridades das políticas definidas para a saúde. Observa-se, assim, que para os cidadãos da referida área de influência os custos associados à aquisição de alguns medicamentos constituem-se como factores que limitam o acesso aos memsmos. Propomos um compromisso com a equidade mediante a igualdade de acesso aos medicamentos qualquer que seja a sua área de residência.
