Equity valuation : DIA – Distribuidora Internacional de Alimentacion, S.A.

Abstract

This dissertation presents the valuation of Distribuidora Internacional de Alimentación (DIA), a Spanish grocery retail company, operating in four geographies along two continents. In order to develop this valuation, three different methods were applied - Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Adjusted Present Value (APV) and Relative Valuation. A sensitivity analysis was also developed to evaluate the suitability of the critical variables used during the process. Based on the Discounted Cash Flow – Sum of Parts model, a target price of 0,35€ was achieved. Additionally, carrying out the Adjusted Present Value method, the price calculated was 0,57€. In both methods, there is a downside potential against the market price. Therefore, a sales recommendation is issued. The conclusions of the valuation made by the author are compared to the investment note published by JP Morgan on 11th February 2019
