Abstract

The present final proof consists of a Renovation Project proposed for the area of Feira Popular, at Avenida da República, Lisbon. This work was born from the natural development of the solution designed in the 1st semester in the Curricular Units of Projecto Integrado Urbano and Projecto Integrado da Paisagem. The intervention strategy involves establishing a link between the green spot that comes from Avenida da Liberdade and Parque Eduardo VII, with Campo Grande. In this way, an Urban Park is proposed along the railway line of the Entrcampos Station and a large building in the urban emptiness of the old Feira Popular, which intends to make this transition. It is intended to function almost as a micro-city, with a multiplicity of functions capable of hosting day-to-day activities (working, living, learning and leisure), integrated into the urban and social environment, functioning as a living organism that doesn’t only incorporates vital functions of the city as it will generate new functions, regenerating it. This building will consist of a basement that will occupy three floors, and will be crossed by a diagonal pedestrian street, which will link the proposed urban park and the Campo Grande garden. In this diagonal will be concentrated the commerce, that will help to make natural the crossing until the garden. In an upper layer, a large excavated mass is predicted with patios that will give natural light to the lower layer and natural ventilation and light to all dwellings, as well as private green spaces.
