A cobertura de conflitos internacionais na imprensa popular portuguesa : o caso da guerra na Síria no Correio da Manhã

Abstract

Este trabalho apresenta uma análise sobre a cobertura de conflitos internacionais na imprensa popular portuguesa: o caso da guerra na Síria no Correio da Manhã. Trata-se de uma análise de conteúdo às 52 notícias publicadas no referido diário durante três meses, Janeiro a Março de 2012. Uma vez formulada a questão de partida, Como é que um jornal popular faz a cobertura de um conflito internacional?, procedemos à elaboração da componente teórica sobre a cobertura jornalística. Os conceitos de guerra e de terrorismo são também analisados numa perspectiva mediática. Na componente empírica foram analisadas a visibilidade conferida ao conflito, o tratamento e o destaque dado ao tema. Por fim, constatámos que o investimento efectuado pelo Correio da Manhã para fazer a cobertura de conflitos internacionais é inexistente, tornando reduzida a qualidade da cobertura do caso em análise.
