Dinâmicas relacionais em situações de confinamento

Abstract

The pandemic of the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), responsible for the development of the disease COVID-19, has changed the routine of a large part of the world's population. A major lockdown was one of the most used measures by countries to reduce the appearance of new cases. The new pandemic situation has brought to discussion, on a global scale, aspects related to mental health and, therefore, it is necessary to study the reactions that the lockdown situation caused in the population. This study aims to characterize the family, intimacy and social dynamics arising from lockdown, and to verify whether participants of certain sociodemographic variables report more stress enhancers. The sample consists of 726 participants, between the ages of 18 and 81, where 638 are female and 87 are male. The participants answered a questionnaire designed according to 4 major dimensions: experience of lockdown in family relationships, experience of lockdown in intimate relationships, experience of lockdown in friendship relationships, and stress enhancers in the experience of lockdown. The results reveal the existence of conflicts at the level of family, intimacy, and friendship relationships. On the other hand, it was possible to verify that participants with certain sociodemographic variables (e.g., female participants, participants with less academic qualifications, participants with children, and participants in lay-off situation) present higher stress enhancers. The limitations of this study were considered and some suggestions for future studies were pointed out.
