Abstract

ABSTRACT: With this work we pretend to adapt the ESREU (Extra-College Relational Support Scale) to freshman students in Military and Police College. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the bidimensional and hierarchic model is applied in both dimensions “parents support” and “pre-college friends support”. Participants were 196 voluntary freshman students (age-range: 18-36 years, M = 20), of the Academia Militar and Instituto Superior de Ciências Policiais e Segurança Interna (convenience sampling). After the scale was purified by the generation of models method, the factorial structure under review proved to be adequate. Extra college relational support can be described thru both dimensions pre-college friends and parents support, being the first one the most precise to represent it.
