Abstract

ABSTRACT: This investigation integrated in Health Psychology and Clinical Sexology domains with a descriptive and characterization of population design, aims to evaluate the rate of discontinuation of treatment with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (Viagra®, Cialis® e Levitra®) in patients with erectile dysfunction, identify the reasons for this discontinuation and analise the predictors of treatment compliance for the three hosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, as well as understand the type of follow-up that is made by clinicians in the context of treatment. The investigation, that contemplates three follow-up analyses – 6, 12 and 24 months, retrospectively – will include a sample of 300 men with a diagnosis of erectile dysfunction, medicated with a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor by the clinician, at least 12 months before the investigation takes place. The clinicians are going to be contacted to gather the clinic processes of patients and further participants are going to be submitted to three self-filling questionnaires, I - Social and demographic questionnaire, II - Sexual satisfaction questionnaire and III - Follow-up in ED questionnaire. These questionnaires are going to be sent by mail or electronic mail, followed by an informed consent letter.
