Abstract

Introdução – Os avanços em oftalmologia e a descoberta de fármacos antiangiogénicos administrados por injeção intravítrea revolucionaram o tratamento de diferentes doenças que afetam a retina. O aparecimento destes fármacos, em 2006, marcou a abordagem e curso da degenerescência macular da idade. Os fármacos anti-VEGF mais usados para injeção intravítrea são o ranibizumab, o bevacizumab e o aflibercept. Estes três fármacos estão disponíveis no mercado em frascos ampola, não precisam de ser diluídos ou reconstituídos. A solução disponibilizada comercialmente só precisa de ser transferida com recurso à técnica assética para seringas estéreis antes da administração. Este método permite que todo o conteúdo de um frasco comercial de uso único possa ser fracionado em várias seringas para armazenamento e posterior injeção a vários doentes, possibilitando uma melhor gestão. Objetivo – Pretende-se descrever um método usado para o fracionamento dos fármacos aflibercept e ranibizumab com recurso a técnica assética para administração intravítrea. Métodos – Realizou-se uma revisão narrativa da literatura e descrição do método utilizado, de acordo com a experiência e procedimentos realizados na farmácia hospitalar do Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando Fonseca EPE (HFF). Considerações finais – No âmbito dos inúmeros desafios colocados às instituições de saúde em Portugal e no mundo, com foco na sua sustentabilidade, é evidente a necessidade de criação de estratégias de gestão do uso dos medicamentos. Por este motivo, o fracionamento destes fármacos é realizado, reduzindo os custos e os desperdícios.
