Burnout e absentismo laboral em enfermeiros

Abstract

Este estudo teve como objectivos conhecer, não só a influência que o burnout tem no absentismo laboral dos enfermeiros, como ainda a relação existente nestes profissionais entre estas duas variáveis e os factores sociodemográficos, os objectivos profissionais, a motivação intrínseca, os factores de mal-estar relacionados com este tipo de absentismo, e os problemas de saúde relacionados com o stresse. Foram estudados 368 enfermeiros distribuídos por 14 unidades (ou serviços) de saúde do Algarve, pertencentes ao Hospital Distrital de Faro e Centro Hospitalar do Barlavento Algarvio, e que englobaram também os Centros de Saúde de Faro e de Portimão. O instrumento de recolha de dados utilizado consistiu num questionário autoadministrado de tipo misto (com perguntas fechadas e abertas de resposta rápida), constituído por 22 questões, que correspondem a 112 itens, e que incluiu quatro escalas. Os resultados obtidos permitiram-nos concluir que o absentismo laboral é influenciado pelo burnout e pelas variáveis sociodemográficas; que o burnout é influenciado pelas variáveis sociodemográficas, pelos factores de mal-estar relacionados com o absentismo laboral, pelos objectivos profissionais e pela motivação intrínseca, exercendo por sua vez influência sobre os problemas de saúde relacionados com o stresse. Encontramos ainda relações significativas entre os factores de mal-estar relacionados com o absentismo laboral, os problemas de saúde relacionados com o stresse e as variáveis sociodemográficas; entre os objectivos profissionais e a motivação intrínseca; e entre esta última variável e os factores de mal-estar relacionados com o absentismo laboral.
