Contributo para a história da saúde no Algarve. Promontoria Monográfica História do Algarve 01

Abstract

Esta publicação pretende ser um contributo para a História da Saúde no Algarve. Desta forma organiza-se em torno de três temas: Instituições, onde cabe a análise dos primeiros hospitais de Faro, a Misericórdia e as Termas de Monchique, o Sanatório Vasconcelos Porto e os Centros de Assistência Social Polivalente; seguem-se as Personalidades com um olhar mais atento a três médicos, que por diferentes motivos, desempenharam um papel fundamental na região; e um último apartado de contribuições relacionadas com o arquivo do Sanatório, a acção, na área da saúde pública, de José de Beires, governador civil do Algarve, a relação entre a radiologia e a investigação artística e arqueológica e a musealização de espaços da saúde, que, por um ou outro motivo, não teriam lugar nas temáticas citadas.
