A teoria da mente (ToM) na Dark Tetrad

Abstract

Alguns investigadores têm-se dedicado ao estudo da cognição social na Dark Tetrad. Este termo refere-se a quatro constructos de personalidade subclínicas, que se encontram inter-relacionados: a psicopatia, o sadismo, o narcisismo e o maquiavelismo. No entanto, a literatura é escassa no que se refere ao contributo da Theory-of-Mind (ToM) na cognição social destas personalidades subclínicas. Neste contexto, tivemos como principal objetivo avaliar a ToM (Faux Pas Recognition test e a Theory of Mind Picture Stories Task) num de 51 estudantes universitários (27 mulheres e 24 homens), com uma média de idades de 19.71 (± 1.65) anos e uma média de escolaridade de 12.94 (±1.46) anos. Os principais resultados sugerem que quanto maiores os níveis de SD4, pior é o desempenho nas tarefas de avaliação da ToM cognitiva, ou seja, maiores dificuldades em atribuir estados mentais complexos e predizer os comportamentos. No entanto, após análise por traço SD4, podemos observar que as facetas de Psicopatia e Sadismo foram as que de forma significativa apareciam associadas a piores níveis de ToM, comparativamente com facetas de Narcisismo e o Maquiavelismo. Estes resultados são discutidos à luz da literatura atual sobre a cognição social e os traços patológicos da personalidade assim como serão discutidas as suas implicações sociais e clínicas.
