The arrival of the Second Republic and the consequent elaboration of the new Constitution will put on the table the debate on women's suffrage by the hand of the constituent Clara Campoamor. The great defender of women's suffrage, almost alone in the debates, was Clara Campoamor. She was attacked from all sides, including her own party colleagues. Some of the deputies made use of unseemly jibes unbecoming of their parliamentary condition and scientific training and almost all of them expressed their distrust in women's aptitude for politics.
