Abstract

The training model in the European Space of Higher Education oriented towards the development of competences is organized around several basic foundations such as the promotion of quality, diversity, competitiveness and mobility. This model aims, mainly, the adaptation to a global world promoting the mobility, interaction and coexistence between people belonging to different cultures. The White Book of the Bachelor Degree in Teaching shows the importance of including in the curricula 17 competences related to interculturality in initial teacher training. The present research aims to know the perception of the university students of education on the development of competences related to interculturality, coexistence and bilingualism. For this, 593 students enrolled in the University of Córdoba completed a questionnaire composed of 17 competencies. Student' t-test is used to compare the perception of these competences across different levels (second and fourth) and specialties. Statistically were detected significant differences between academic courses. Generally, the perception about the competential development increases in higher grades (competences of coexistence and interculturality) especially in specific competences to the teaching profession.
