Turres Baeticae: una reflexión arqueológica

Abstract

In this paper, we pretend to analyze one of the most interesting features observed about the settlement patterns in the andalusian area in protohistoric and roman ages. We are refering to the so-called "torres", frequentely cited and researched by numerous scholars. The first step will be the analysis of the few but significative written sources and, subsequently, studying the archaeological data and the interpretations and hipothesis developed until now. Finally, due to the fact that this kind of monuments were built in roman times, we will phocus on the role played in the settlement framework of this age and which would be the most correct terminology in this level.
